How to succeed in a Chinese Job Interview(面试)

As China develops, more and more companies hire foreign employees. Indeed, your capacity for work is one the most important factors to determines the interview’s success, and the ability of languages is vital. In the interview, in addition to use the HSK or BCT certificate to prove your Chinese Mandarin, you have to perform well in the Chinese job interview dialogue with interviewer.

 

PS: interview in Chinese is 面试(miàn shì).

 

The following guide introduces the phrase and vocabulary for Chinese interview will certainly help you out for a Chinese job interview!

What Chinese Job Interview Questions Would Be Asked?

qǐng zì wǒ jiè shào 请自我介绍。

Tell me about yourself. 

 nǐ jié hūn le ma ?shì fǒu dān shēn ?你结婚了吗?是否单身?

Are you married? Single?

nǐ de ài hǎo shì shén me ?你的爱好是什么?

What's your hobby?

nǐ de yōu diǎn /quē diǎn shì shén me ?你的优点/缺点是什么?

What are your strengths / weaknesses?

nǐ wéi shén me xiǎng zài zhè jiā gōng sī gōng zuò ?你为什么想在这家公司工作?

Why do you want to work here?    

nǐ wéi shén me lí kāi shàng yī jiā gōng sī? 你为什么离开上一家公司?

Why did you leave your last job?

wéi shén me nǐ rèn wéi nǐ kě yǐ shèng rèn zhè gè zhí wèi? 为什么你认为你可以胜任这个职位?

Why do you think you can be competent for this position?

nǐ néng guǎn lǐ hé dài lǐng tuán duì ma ?你能管理和带领团队吗?

Can you supervise and lead teams?

nǐ duì xīn shuǐ de yào qiú shì shén me? 你对薪水的要求是什么?

What is your salary expectation?

nǐ yǒu shén me wèn tí yào wèn de ma ?你有什么问题要问的吗?

Situation 1: Greeting

Candidate: Nǐhǎo,Lǐ jīnɡlǐ,Wǒ shì Janice. 你好,李经理,我是Janice。(Hello, Manager Li, I’m Janice.)

Interviewer: Nǐhǎo,qǐngzuò. 你好,请坐。(Hello, please have a seat.)

Situation 2: Self-introduction

Interviewer: Wǒ kàn le nǐde jiǎnlì, juédé hěn búcuò. Xiànzài gēn wǒ shuōshuo nǐ zìjǐ ba,nǐde zhuānyè shì shénme?我看了你的简历觉得很不错,现在跟我说说你自己吧,你的专业是什么?(I read your resume, and I think it’s very good. Now tell me about yourself. What is your major?)

Candidate: Wǒ hěn gāoxìng jiàn dào nín,wǒ shì Měiguó rén,wǒ shì Niǔyuē dàxuésān niánjí de xuésheng,wǒde zhuānyè shì zhōngwén. Wǒ fēicháng xǐhuan Zhōngguó hé Zhōngguó de wénhuà. Wǒ zài Shànghǎi zhù guò yì nián,zài Běijīng zhù guò wǔnián. 我很高兴见到您,我是美国人,我是纽约大学三年级的学生,我的专业是中文。我非常喜欢中国和中国的文化。我在上海住过一年,在北京住过五年。(Nice to meet you, I’m American. I’m a third-year student from NYU. My major is Chinese. I like very much China and Chinese culture. I’ve lived in Shanghai for one year, and Beijing for five years.)

Situation 3: Working experience.

Interviewer: Nǐ yǒu shénme yàng de gōngzuò jīngyàn?你有什么样的工作经验?(What kind of working experience do you have?

Candidate: Liǎng nián qián wǒ zài Fēizhōu hé NGO de xuéxiào de pínkùn xiǎoxué bāng yí gè lǎoshī jiāo Yīngyǔ. Zhège lǎoshī yǒu chàbùduō wǔshí ge xuésheng,wǒ měige xīngqī bāngzhù tā. Duì wǒ lái shuō, jiāo yǒu bùtóng wénhuà de xiǎo háizi yīngwén hěn yǒuqù, érqiě hěn yǒu yìyì. 两年前我在非洲和NGO的学校的贫困小学帮一个老师教英语。这个老师有差不多五十个学生,我每个星期帮助他。对我来说,教有不同文化的小孩子英文很有趣,而且很有意义。(Two years ago, I was helping a teacher to teach English to the poor students in Africa in a NGO primary school. The teacher had about 50 students. I helped her every week. For me, it was very interesting to teach English with kids of different culture, and it was very meaningful.)

Situation 4: Working place

Interviewer: Rúguǒ ràng nǐ xuǎnzé gōngzuò dìdiǎn dehuà,nǐ huì xuǎnzé zài shénme dìfang gōngzuò? 如果让你选择工作地点的话,你会选择在什么地方工作?(If I let you choose the working location, where would you choose to work?)

Candidate: Rènhé dìfang dōu méiyǒu wèntí,yīnwèi wǒ huì shuō Zhōngwén,suǒy ǐwǒ kěyǐ zài xǔduō dìfang gōngzuò.任何地方都没有问题,因为我会说中文,所以我可以在许多地方工作。(Any place is ok, because I can speak Chinese, so I can work in many places.

Situation 5: End of the interview.

Interviewer: Hǎode,nǐ háiyǒu qítā wèntí ma?好的,你还有其他问题吗?(Good, do you have other questions?)

Candidate: Méiyǒu le,xièxiè. 没有了,谢谢。(No, thank you.)

Interviewer: Hǎode,wǒmen huì tōngzhī nǐ. 好的,我们会通知你。(Ok, we will inform you.)
